First Tune up - '87 Carrera
Well, I decided to take on some basic tune up work this weekend. So far, I was able to get the cap and rotor, air filter and spark plugs done. Still have to get to the fuel filter and the transmission oil. Engine oil was already changed recently.
The number 1 plug was a PITA for some reason. Prior owner(s) had it stripped. I was wondering what you all thought about the condition of my spark plugs..... All plugs, with #1 at the bottom right, working left for #s 2 and 3. #4 is at the top right working left for #s 5 and 6 ![]() Close up of #1 and #4 with #s 2 and 5 in the background ![]() Close ups of #s 3 and 6 ![]() ![]() Thanks, -Chris

Heh heh heh, that is MY selection of shop towels. And I kill HER when she uses them
![]() I will have to check the records to be sure, but I have put on 10k since I got the car last June. Figured it HAD to be time. Anyone know the interval for changing the wires? They are $$$ and look to be tedious to replace... Thanks, Chris

fyi
![]() It could be the photos but is the electrode worn on plug 5? Nothing to worry about but I'd just check your mixture you maybe a tiny bit lean and a tiny bit hot - then again maybe not - they are ok - (i'm talking crap...)

Brown to greyish tan was good back in the good old leaded days when reading plugs was an art.
If you don't believe me then pull one out of your SUV. White rules today. Last edited by stlrj; 05-04-2005 at 05:15 PM.. |
