Question - How important is it to accept AMEX?

These guys are the highway robbers of the 20th century. I'm thinking of dropping them completely, as they drive up my costs, which drives up my prices.

How important is Amex to everyone else? I personally don't use them.

==============================================Wayn e - now here is another consumer's field of vision. When I can get a merchant to accept my AMEX I gain due to coverage. If they charge merchants a premium to accept my card - I don't really care. If they instead force me to use MC/VS - I evaluate the monetary amount of the purchase and decide accordingly. AMEX offers an outstanding coverage plan against fraud. If you pay monthly, then cost of credit is your annual fee. Cheap insurance in my opinion.
