We drove Papa Smurf up to Battle Creek yesterday and picked up the wifes targa. Loaded it down with parts and drove home. A 2 hour jaunt that was uneventful. She really likes it. The offset Targa pedals took a little getting used to and the clutch seems to be ON/OFF. But she gave me three weeks to completely restore the car and do a total color change so I better stop typing and start wrenching!

Restore? color change? It's looks pretty good right now, what does it need? Of course, I'm prejudiced in favor of its current color.

Pictures always make cars look better than they really are. It doesn't need much. Mostly cosmetic stuff. She picked a color called "Moonstone" it's a Porsche color offered from 1979 to 1980. Its a pastelish purple.

Jamie,
Jerry is having the 930 sport seats recovered in black leather. It came with two sets of Fuchs and a targa hardtop. Should be a nice driver when I finish it up.

I went back to that pic in the other thread for reference. Still looks a little dark... but that's from the lack of light in the garage. Hopefully this teaser doesn't start the process all over again. It felt like I opened a can of worms when I posted the pic in the pink that she wanted! I guess it was better to find out before you painted.....

All systems are still go. Here we are today. I waste no time...
![]() I had to cut most of the bolts off or they just broke when I tried to loosen them. I used half a can of PB Blaster and a torch. Massive salt build up and corrosion on the bolts. ![]()

Cool. You should start a new thread to keep track of this restoration.
Call it THE BRIDE OF SMURF ...very Boris Karloff...

Hmm... Did you pull off the 911sc badge on the rear? They both look good in your garage! Everyone need a matched set!

Shawn,
If that rear bumper turns out to be a little rough? I have a silver one that's in pretty decent shape that you could have. But i'm sure Jerry's got PLENTY of those if you needed one. I find taking the rear bumper assy. off easier when you leave the side panels attached to the accordian/bellows things. All that's req'd to get the side panels off is three coarse threaded screws per panel. Although the pass. side is kinda tough to get @ with the oil tank in there. But you gotta take 'em off one way or another anyway! Have fun, dude. Looking forward to following the progress. Your topics are always a hoot. ![]()
