Anyone running RA1's on the street?
I have driven my RA1's on the street a fair amount and they feel fine: good grip even cold and not loud. Anyone use these as their street tires? What kind of miles are you getting out of them? Pro's and con's?

I ran them on the street for about 6 months. Great on a dry road but I had some "pucker" moments in heavy rain on the freeway.

Don,
How many miles did you get out of them? |

I didn't wear them out. I had one full track day on last summer and then about 6 months of steet time. The inside rears show some wear (-2 + camber though) but overall they still look good. I think they probably have 6-7K miles on them plus the track day. They aren't down to the shave line yet.

Don,
Why aren't people using these for the street? The Pilot sport people are talking about replacing their rears every 4K miles. While I've never run that tire, the RA1's seem like they would be a much better dry tire for the street and last longer. Am I missing something? Any con's I'm not considering? |

so far so good. I've had zero problems in the rain but then again I haven't put my windshield wipers back on since I painted the car over a year ago. if you want to pucker try running A008RS tires as your street tire. They will make you pucker in ther rain.

I used my first set on the street till about the shave line. About 5000 miles on the street and 200-300 miles on the track to get it there. 100 miles of track was about equal to 2500 miles of street. Now they are dedicated track tires. Should be good for at least several track days.
Will be getting another fresh set for the street shortly. alf

Hey Alf... I checked the archives after starting this thread and you started an identical thread on 5-5-04 with the identical heading. Very twilight zone like... I guess I should have checked first, but if we all did that, we would have nothing to talk about.
Sounds like the RA1's have worked out. I had a set of 6's and 7's with Yoko AVS Sports that I sold this week because I just couldn't stomach putting them back on after track days with my 7's and 9's with RA1's. Ive decided I'm going to get the 7's and 9's redone by Al Reed and just run RA1's on the street and track. |

Before you get the Fuchs redone, i have a set of fully polished 7&9s that i am trying to trade for original finish ones. But looks like yours are polished as well ![]() "I guess I should have checked first, but if we all did that, we would have nothing to talk about" Agreed here. If we all just Searched then Pelican might as well be a reference site and not a forum. alf
