perma tune schematics/details ????

does anyone have any details or schematics/pics of the inside of a perma tune ignition........i ask as a garage here in London has all the latest Bosch equpment to analyse and has asked the following:

"The information you sent does not acutally describe the circuit
or the electronic operation of their system. I need to know whether I can reverse the coil
wires in order to start checking on my machine thus achieving a positive going secondary
pattern.

if you you cannot find this info, I am prepared to do more tests to understand how the
system works. It is my belief that it replaces a CDI system but is not a CDI
system. I think it is a standard high energy ignition system but it would be really nice to have more details before I start messing around with it.

as a bit of background i have popping from the exhaust and the mixture is running Rich and then lean.......the mechanic has done most things and we've swapped dizzy , HT leads , plugs , done all the seals and gaskets but then he sent me to this diagnostic specialist who has all the latest OPC style computer stuff....when he saw the car (and he is a Porsche garage of some note for 25 yrs in London) he was wary of attaching his leads from the computer and when he did said he was not getting the usual info.....any help anyone....thanks

mena,

The Permatune is a true CDI system, a plug-and-play replacement for the Bosch CDI unit. My pics wouldn't do you any good, for they are of a 3-pin unit, not the 6-pin unit fitted to SC engines with magnetic trigger.

Your mechanic should be able to use the exact same equipment and hookup as for the OEM Bosch CDI system. Since the CDI systems haven't been manufactured since the last of the 964 Turbos in the early '90s ... it isn't a matter of 'the latest technology' ... so he may not be that familiar with CDI systems any longer.

I don't understand the desire to 'reverse the coil leads' ... please elaborate!
