Dane, that color looks great!

Thanks Chuck. Hopefully I'll be able to bring it to N meets S this fall.
New bushings are awesome :) |
rdane, concerning your sunroof replacement/removal it looks like a peferct job. I have been wanting to do this and some other body/interior repairs. I talked to several body shops and they wanted to cut the old top off and reweld a new top with no sunroof...they said that welding the roof panel was too hard and would take too much filler. Your car seems to prove them wrong.
The interior sound improvements are also very intriguing since that would be the time to use some upgraded sound deadner. Did you use a spray/brush on type or just foam? You seem to have done a complete job and took the time to understand all options. This type of project makes this board the perfect place to find out about products and restoration techniques. Take care of your car and did you reinsure for a higher value? Another sitcky point about restoration cars. |
That inspires a new thread I'm going to start on the 911 list....

Dane,
Holy Crap! Holy Crap! Nicely done. Rick |
I have Hagerty so the bump in insurance came before we fired up the new engine at Eurotech. So easy on that end, no bs or hassle just some details on the phone and jpegs via email.
Car is extremely quite now and very quick. I made the extra effort to get light "as possible" sound deading. Better and lighter than stock for sure. Not a new 997 but not far away either in the cabin. No question my car is quicker. Top end can't be far off eihter. Handling?...996 hands down. Fun factor and handling?...my car hands down Sunroof came out perfect but the shop is extremely skilled. More importantly they like and care about what they are doing. |
When compared to a new car not only cheaper but more original and creative. There has to be an advantage to a light car that is fast but doesn't need a turbo...less heat longer life and very responsive. A true factory engine that is probably getting not only excellent performance but good mileage and reliability. A light car is better in response for braking and handling also. I think this is what makes renewing an older car very attractive.
