lil' help needed- generator light turns on when car turns off!
Today when I turned off the car the red generator light turned on. I started the car up again, and the light turned off as soon as I turned the key. Shut her down again, and the light was right back on.
Any ideas? Thanks! Ian

You have a short in the regulator or alt. Put a meter between your battery's neg post and the cable and read the amp draw with the doors closed, etc. If your clock is working, you will get an intermittent draw but not steady.
I could be wrong, but that's from my old VW days. |

Is it possible to fix this myself, or am I condemned to get it done professionally or replace the alternator? I have a good tool set but my experience is mostly related to mechanical things (clutch, etc) and not electrical. One of my friends is a robot guru though. And Pelican is indeed grand!
Thanks! Ian
