Rear Wheel Bearing Question

I'm going to replace my rear wheel bearings, but I'm a bit confused with all the various rear bearing configurations and "inner and outer" bearings...

1969 - Steel trailing arms... Is it just one bearing in the trailing arm or two?

Cheers

John,

There is only one rear bearing per side, it requires a special tool for removal and instalation. If you do a search there are some who have fabricated their own tool for this job with bits and pieces purchased from Home Depot.

Pretty much the same thing as a 914 bearing job. At least there is s good article in the tech section for 914s. We don't seem to ever get one for 911s, both early and the later ones, which I think are a different deal.

You should be able to follow the 914 directions and do fine. The cheap version of the tool is explained there too.

Hi, sorry for hijacking...

Does anybody know the SKF manufacturer exact serial number of the rear bearing, or its specs? There's SKF's dealer near my place and I want to order the bearings from them directly. (for some reasons I can't do it from Pelican right now ).

Best regards

Yep, one bearing per side. Here's another article that may help.

IIRC the archives have a few pretty good posts with pictures as well.
