I did it on my SC and feel it is worth even more on the CIS cars in terms of looks. Where do you guys get that red heater hose?

Now don't forget that we have a/c deletes here too!

Jeremy - You can keep the AC. I bought the left duct from widebody911 and did mine a few weeks ago.

All of these pics (except for 84cab's) depict a heater back date that replaced both left and right side air ducts. On a Carrera, you can replace just the left side hot air duct (with a 930 part or Widebody's piece), and leave the right side 'as is'...(reusing the Carrera's stock heat tube which protrudes throught the left side of rear engine tin and directs the air flow over both left & right side heat exchangers). Although I have also removed my A/C (so it was a non-issue), if one wanted to back date the heat and keep the A/C (on a Carrera), imo, that is a much cleaner and painless way to do it. Hope this makes sense...

Plus, I like to tinker, and having the blower, a mile of hoses, and A/C compressor and condenser and hoses and brackets out of the way........priceless.

I'll second Superman's comments. Removing all that useless $hit makes wrenching far easier. Since I backdated my heat and deleted a/c, I have changed the fuel filter, adjusted the valves and will soon install an MSD. I would hate to have to remove and replace all that ducting each time I did something. My heat will still cook me out of the car in about 2 min. too. Blower is so worthless.

I'm convinced. Now can someone please list the steps required to do this. I've done the search but get some conflicting instructions. Especially the wiring changes. I need some heat since I've got a Targa and like to drive it during the winter with the top off and the wife requires warming the feet on her side. Which heater controls remain? the two center levers or the center turn switch which used to (hasn't worked in years but not really needed) turn on the footwell blowers.

I have auto heat and kept the A/C.

As for the auto heat, you'll need a resistor form a 993 to get the footwell blowers to work. I'll try and get a part # for you.

I thought there was an experiment with the resister that did not work regarding the foot well blowers?

I am in the process of A/C delete and heater backdate now...

Thanks in advance. Your car looks great. Changing to the cone air filter cleans up the right side engine comparment. It would be great to get rid of the blower to do the same on the left side especially when it does so little.

Left heater duct only needed on Carreras. Thom (widebody911) sells them rennlight.com It takes about thirty minutes to do the install. Very straightforward, only requires removing the heater blower and ducting on the left side and bolting up the new duct. The distributor cap has to be removed to access one of the bolts.

Wow....that is a huge improvement in engine access (looks much better as well)

I too want to keep my A/C but want to do this.....if anyone has instructions and a part list to post, that would be great.....
