does your next door neighbor have a 911?

uh- oh! my neighbor is buying a clapped out - hacked up 1975 911S. orange-ish, with a carrera emblem on the back lid. backdated heat with the help of bud beer cans. how neighborly do you get with helping out the next door guy? clean interior, and cheap asking price. new motor, (but maybe just a running transplant).

i'll delete this thread if he logs on to pelican.

Tell him the truth if it's a Roach and it's not worth buying. Spare him the $$$ and yourself the agony.

I lucked out, my neighbor has a 928 so we don't have very much in common besides the name Porsche. If you can help him, then why not. You never know when you may need a favor and he will probably repay you for your help.

he just bought it. $4500. actually, very rust free. and he has the heater backdated parts, and they are plugged with the beer cans. i told him to scrap the blower and clean things up a bit. looks like a new WUR, and new spark plug wires. factory braided ones.

this may be just the bonding we need. he is a mechanic, so he will learn fast. i am getting him wayne's book so he can get some "direction" and wayne can perhaps get a new customer.

Funny topic! My neighbor has pristine 1988 brown Targa. Puts my car to shame, although mine is faster . I periodically see a 97 turbo parked a few doors down from me but I don't know if the owner lives there. I also see a Cayenne turbo there once in a while.

My next door neighbor has an 88 Diamond Blue 911 Coupe...mint...and 2 new Ferraris. He gives the garage to the Ferraris and the 911 sits out side uncovered.

Makes sense: the Ferraris would probably never start again if left outside. You've got to have somebody competent on guard duty.

I rarely see any older 911's around my house although I did see an SC today. I see alot of newer Porsche's, Ferrari's, Lambo's and pickup trucks. Go figure.

Nearest 'neighbor' to me with a 911, (Let alone any other Porsche) is 30 miles away. Can you say,"Out in the sticks?" I thought you could!

Mostly the new ones drive around in my town (not in my street though)... no Do It Yourself-ers... all maintained by an Official Porsche dealer.

There are a few air-cooled models still around, but don't see them out as much as the 996 and 997's.

But the immediate neighbours: one's got an Audi TT and checks out my 911 everytime I drive off (or overtake him ).

Nope no 911's for neighbours. But thankfully some guys two dorrs down bought a 1/4 mile car (capri shell & god knows what under it) that has that crazy top fuel/alcohol crackle to it. So now no one cares about the comparitively quiet burble my car makes

Have a blue 996 down my street - a white 1974 original 911 everything where I walk the dog 3 -4 times a week - with a black 968 across the street - there is "seadweller" that has a beautiful 1985 30K Guards Red Targa that I pass almost everyday - and on the way out of my neighborhood - someone just bought a rivera blue long hood - if the guy is outside, I will stop and chat one of these days...

My neighbor has a GT2, until he just moved. I helped him with everything but there was not much to do. The neighbor 1 block up has an old 356D, and he is a true tinker, complete with half a machine shop. I might need his help.

I helped all my neighbors, the one across the street has 4 cars, 3 are old and always needing a little something. The neighbor next to them has 2 old cars which I have already worked on several times. And the one next to them also has an old car that I helped him save money on.

I worked on a total of 8 neighborly cars. Great bonding experience. They repay me in 18 year old scotches. Fair exchange, I say.
