Editor for a Day - R&T, C&D
Received an invite in the mail to an event co-sponsored by Road&Track and Car And Driver. As described, they are asking folks to comparison test BMW, Cadillac and Mercedes vehicles to "...uncover a variety of attributes including acceleration, handling, braking, ride and stability control on specialized test courses". And, participants will have "...a once in a lifetime chance to have [their] opinions printed in the magazine". Sounds like this could be fun. Get to do some serious no-obligation test drives without a pushy salesman breathing down your neck.
From the invite, it appears this willl be a multi-city event. Has anyone else heard about this or been invited? If so, what did you think? I'm curious if you think it was too tightly controlled and a waste of time or some pretty decent fun? I've signed up to attend because I couldn't pass up the opportunity to compare the performance of these new rides with my almost 10 year old 911. Not to mention it willl be held at the same site used for our Bay Area autocrosses. Who knows, maybe I can et them to let me take my care out for a lap or two. ![]() If any of you bay area guys got an invite, speak up. Maybe I'll see you there. Kevin

I have been invited as well, but not really sure what is going on.
I do not think I can make it anyways. |

Funny, I never pictured R&T and C&D cooperating on anything.

I did this last fall. It was actually a Cadillac marketing event, but you definitely did get to thrash some cars. BMW 535, Mercedes E420, and a pair of Caddy STS. Three participants plus an instructor in the car. No helmets. About as much track time as a typical autocross. I had fun.
