Hose Clamp vs. Swage Fitting

I've got to put a new banjo fitting on the fuel line that connects to my fuel pump. This is a soft rubber line with about a 1/4" ID. The old banjo fitting had a swaged end on it, and now I want to put a new fitting in. The problem is that I can't remove the line completely to have professionally swaged, so I think I need to use a hose clamp instead. My concern of course is that this is a high pressure line and I don't want any leaks.

I can get high quality hose clamps, and maybe double them up so I have two on this fitting. Any other recommendations? Is there a sealant to use in conjunction with the fitting?

When I upgrade my CIS pump on the Bastard ('76) to the later SC pump, the banjo on the fuel line was too small (10 mm -vs- 12 mm). I could have bored it out, but since the hose was cracked and dried at the banjo fitting, I just got a 12 mm banjo, cut the old banjo off, then use a fuel injection clamp on the hose and new banjo. You can double then up if you want. That bared end should be long enought o accomodate two clamps....just make sure you get a quality clamp that won't cut into the hose......My car has been running like that for over 4 years. You can always check it again...or if it leaks you'll smell or see it. There only one ignition source there (the pump connection) to ignite any gas that might leak....I don't worry to much.

I have the same problem and I use a double fuel injection clamp.
