Strange Oil Leak - 930

Car is a '79 930 with 25K original miles.

Did my first DE this weekend, and after each run, the inside left (drivers side) of the engine compartment, down low, would be coated with oil and dripping to the ground (leaving a diner plate sized puddle). I also believe it was sucking oil into the engine, because when I would restart for the next session, the car would blow blue smoke for several minutes and run like the plugs were fouled, but would eventually clear up. I believe the car lost approximately 1/2 to 3/4 quart per ~20 minute session.

I can not determine where the oil is escaping coming from.

On the 5 hour drive home, The car did not use a drop of oil and ran perfectly, which leads me to think it's either an extended "on boost" issue or a heavy cornering issue.

Anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

Thanks.

It sounds like you simply had too much oil in the car. It is recommended that you run a quart lower on the track than you would on the street. Sustained high RPMs and boost add a lot of crank case pressure.

Could it be the scavenge pump? Mine seems to be leaking no matter what I do/change... But mine seems to result in coating the WG & lower valve cover with oil

I was running right at or just below the "add" mark on the dipstick. Is that level a quart lower?

If you use 12qts of oil in the car, add only 11qts.
