Should I, or Shouldn't I?
I have always been a big big big fan of the duck tail. And since Mark Wilson was out our way, I was able to get a good first hand look at the beauty of driving behind a beautifyully shaped SC with a duck. That being said, I also know that ducks do not look great on every car. Things like color, model, ride height, etc. factor into how well the duck "fits" the car. I am considering a duck for my C2 pictured below and I would like some input as to what you all think it would look like. I already have the RSA tail on it and I have the original lid in my garage, so if your opinion is to keep one of those, then speak up. I have to admit, the RSA tail has really grown on me.

Thanks in advance for your help/input. |
Whatever you think looks good, it's your car! Just keep the Porsche sticker off the fender, otherwise we'll send you over to the Ferrari board. ;)

I think they both look great. I will not be putting the Porsche sticker on the car, but maybe the Carrera script. By the way, I think the Porsche sticker on the car above was placed in that exact spot to cover up a paint blemish. Thanks for your input George.

Great looking Porsche - eitherway.
|
That's a great looking Porsche you have. Would look great with a duck tail :)
|
I only like ducks on the back-dated cars. I also think your car looks great as is and I would not change it.
|
I say leave it alone - looks great.
|
I'm a duck fan. It would make your car unique, but still look very clean.
She's a beaut by the way. |
I think ducks look better on solid (non-metallic) cars. . . .though there are some metallic-headed ducks that do look fine with duck tails. (mallards?)
Anyway, the original 964 lids are hella cool, if you ask me. (do ya have a spare?);) |
Well since you're asking for opinions, I think the duck tails only look good with the accompanying long hood/bumpers. With your 964 bumpers and twist wheels, I'd definitely stick with the RSA tail. Your car looks great with them (really, your car looks fabulous!), and I feel looks "more appropriate" with the "modern" visual cues.

BTW, very cool color. I say stay with the Carrera tail. EDIT: Correction. As mentioned the first photo is of a RSA tail...very similar in style to the Carrera/SC tail. All you want to know about RSA tails: http://www.rsamerica.net/OEMinfo/whaletail/ |

Also, the design of the 964 looks more "efficient" than that of earlier cars. When it comes to tails, there is none more "efficient" looking than the duck. Crisp. Clean. Purposeful. ...and none of that "80s rubber". ;) If we can just get over the fact that it's a tail from an early car, I think we can accept how good it looks on the later car! SmileWavy Edit: With all of this in mind, I'd skip the Carrera script... |
I vote to keep what you have as it looks great the way it is.
Regards, Markus |
I'd keep the current tea tray spoiler.

And I'm a bit biased against the bolt-on tails as I'm used to my 1-piece. |

To me, the Carrera tail looks "bolt on" on a 964. SO THERE! :D ...don't argue aesthetics with a designer... SmileWavy |
Can't we all just get along...LOL.
Scott, you need to add a poll to this thread. |
