Rocker Panel question

I was wondering if it is possible to easily backdate the side view of a 88 Carrera (with the rocker panels and rubber seals) to the clean look of the IROC cars.

I have the correct flares welded onto my Carrera... but under the rocker panel covers there are all sorts of tubing (I suppose air conditioning an or oil lines).

This is a pic of my car before the new flares. Ideally I'd get rid of the rubber strip and leave the torsion bar hole open.

And these are the flares being welded...

Anybody has suggestions?

Thanks
