Guess the Mystery Fuchs!
All right, all you pundits, nabobs, wanna-be concours judges, preservationists, choppers, stereo punks and audi wagon drivers! It's time to have some fun.
But first, a brief commercial. What you are about to see is yet another example of the craftsmanship of Al Reed polishing of Anaheim, California. Now, there's always one Bolshevik in the crowd who refuses to use the Search button, so here's Al's Contact information for YOU, pal! Al Reed Specialty Polishing 3010 E. Coronado #A Anaheim, CA 92806 714 632-3907 Commercial over! Now, for the fun part. The wheels in the attached photo are NOT what they appear to be. What do they imitate, and what are they really? Mwahahahaha! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I think they imitate very early S fuchs, with only the very small portion of black near the wheel lugs. They look wider than 5 1/2" though? Maybe SC's?

6x16 to appear as 4 ˝ x 15. I’ll bet I know what car they are going on. That will look nice.
Best, Grady

Wow, amazing fast responses! Closest so far is Mr. CLAY. . . .here's some more information that may zero him in! (Just to keep it fair, the needle is pointing to 12 pounds)

I agree that they are 6" x 15" standard Fuchs painted to look like 4˝" x 15" that would be going on a 911 of '66 vintage.
Am I right ........uh uh uh uh ?????? And what do I win Mr. Cramer if I am right? ![]()

We have a winner!
Mike nailed it. . . they are a set of 15x6, 911 361 020 00, polished and painted to look like 4-1/2" Fuchs, from a '67 911S. My theory is that short of steelies, this was the most "period" look I could achieve, while at the same time benefitting from a wider rim, tire-retaining safety bead on the rim, and the significantly lower cost of "flat sixes" vs. "deep sixes!" As the attached photos indicate these really do weigh 12 pounds each, have a bead width of 152mm (6") and a total width of 168mm (the tape measure is set in the opposite bead groove, which is why it's only showing 160mm wide- the other bead-to-edge distance is 160-152=8, plus 160 from the bead= 168mm total width, and it also measures to that) and a backspacing of 121mm. 168/2 = 84mm at the center point, 120mm backspace - 84mm center = 36mm offset, voilla! The great thing about these is that only a true enthusiast would know that they were wrong, but might understand why! Thanks for playing, we now return you to the regularly scheduled technical questions!

John-
That's exactly what I'm doing for street wheels on my '67S. The 6s with 205s are SOOO much better on the road than the original 4.5s with 165s on them. You have to look pretty closely to tell the difference. TT

Tom,
Cool, we should start a retro-fake fuchs club! (Just kidding.) I have some lousy Pirellis in 205/70R15 that I might pair with these until they wear out. Where did you find 165s, Vredestein?
