Project '72 update #10!

Well, i finally got to drive the project today for the first time out on the open road. ( of course i went to the curvy-est road near here ;) ) It felt really nice considering as some of you know, after i put it together a few weeks back i had no 4th gear so everything had to come back out and trans opened up and fixed. So today i got to stretch it out. WOW! that felt SWEET!
I also scored a complete 996TT brake setup, so that will go on this week.
Here are a few photos from today..

I think you and Tom are going to have close to some of the best looking early cars on this board! Absolute knockout!

Lukesportsman 05-21-2005 08:05 PM

Before anyone says otherwise. Looks great without the Fuchs!

porschenut88 05-21-2005 08:38 PM

That'd be an intimidating sight in some Georgia commuter's rear view mirror. ;)

rbcsaver 05-21-2005 11:21 PM

Stunning vehicle !
regards,
Steve

k9handler 05-22-2005 12:02 AM

damn....that car could get more looks at an R Gruppe event than an Audi wagon! Awesome looking car, love the hood ducting and wheels.

Bobboloo 05-22-2005 12:11 AM

YEAHHHH BABY!!!

If you guys have an East Coast get together you need to take a photo of your Viper Green and Toms' Signal Orange side by side.

makaio 05-22-2005 05:07 AM

Beautiful!

Shuie 05-22-2005 05:25 AM

mark 74 carrera 05-22-2005 07:18 AM

No officer.....really it was some other green beast with Carrera written on the side!!!! I have been out here driving the speed limit minding my own business...really!

arrivederci 05-22-2005 07:21 AM

Wicked...i love it.

rattlsnak 05-22-2005 10:35 AM

Thanks for the compliments guys!!

Its actually Gelb Green. Its got more blue than Viper Green, so it appears to be more of a 'creamy green'. (almost the exact color of a green M&M or a Kawasaki)

ruf- i used a Magnaflow muffler.

rjay- i did the hood myself, with the help and planning of my body guy. (he did his first, and i copied it!)

mark-74 - funny you mention that cop thing, that exact thought passed through my mind as i was ripping through a winding mountain road close to home.
Of course the work is never done. I still have to put in the belts, fire system, sill plates,. etc.!

SalazarS2K 05-22-2005 11:46 AM

Great looking car, I love the little details you added to make a good vehicle great. Can you give some more details on the muffler setup? Like how is it mounted (muffler straps?) so that its out of the way of the RSR bumper and how the tips are setup. Thanks.

tobluforu 05-22-2005 12:51 PM

Christ, that looks like what Arnold would do to a 72. That thing is juiced! Very nice.....

Pele911 05-22-2005 03:04 PM

Watch out, Congress may call you in to testify about steroid use for race cars! Dude incredible job!

donstevens 05-22-2005 04:34 PM

I like the muffler.....What is that?

Walko 05-22-2005 04:39 PM

I just like it

Michael

jbscheff 05-22-2005 06:00 PM

That's gotta be the sweetest long hood I've ever seen! Now I want to start all over on mine...dammit!

Elombard 05-22-2005 06:13 PM

Fabulous. Although the front spoiler is very functional it looks a little too modern for the rest of the car. Perhaps you could quick attach it for track events? A real stunner either way.

Doug&Julie 05-23-2005 04:51 AM

Damn.

...and by that I mean...

Damn!

Geronimo '74 05-23-2005 05:34 AM

Abso-funking-lutely im-funking-pressive!

"There's a new sheriff in town. Now be cool"

The ultimate blend of color, aggression, tires/wheels, and power. My wife would hate it.
