Throttle response not what it was
 

When I first got my 1980 SC a few months ago, the throttle response was absolutely electric. I would blip the throttle and the revs would just SCream to-wards red-line.

Recently the throttle response has slowed down quite noticeably. I cannot correlate this decrease in responsiveness to any particular thing. No recent maintenance events or improvements correlate to the decreased responsiveness.

I observe two new behaviors:
1. Blipping the throttle in neutral the revs climbs more slowly with a slight roughness.
2. When the car is just beginning to warm up, the revs have a hard time stabilizing when the throttle is suddenly closed.

Might do a search on the frequency valve.

When you got it a few months ago, it may have been cooler. You may need to lean it out a bit. Souk posted a thread on this last fall...search on that. I need to adjust my mix as well...lazy me..

You are getting use to the car. When I first got my 911, it was Faaast. Now I am ready to make it faster, but $$$$$$$$.

Second VaSteve. See if leaning i/16 turn helps. If still not ,try another 1/16 turn. If that doesn't work, let us know.

What about the vacuum advance? I found a similar problem with my car and removed the hose from the vacuum advance, plugged the holes, BAM whole new car.

I might not know if this is right, but if all else fails I just wanna throw this out.

Just wanted to update this post with the answer...

The fuel air mixture was off. CO was at a 6 and adjusted down to 2.5.

Probable cause was cleaning the gunk from around the air sensor plate.

Throttle respone is electric again :)
