Any ideas for odometer?

While out for a joy ride recently the odometer in my 1982 SC Targa just quit working. The speedometer works fine, but the odometer and trip odometer stopped. Any ideas on what may have caused this or where to start troubleshooting? I appreciate any help or suggestions you may have.

My guess is gears inside the speedo. Take it apart for a peek!

Yes, gears inside the speedo...do a search...I can't remember the name, but there's someone that sells replacement gears.

Same problem on my S ......read the ODO repair "project" in "101 Projects for your 911"...it covered the problem well & has photos too. I followed it's directives, opened up my speedo, fixed the problem (loose drive gear), put it all together &.....WORKS GREAT !!! paid for the book right then & there !!!

Good Luck on yours !

WOW. 25 bucks for a gear seems a little steep, but I guess if you have to have one,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I read an article and I think it is in 101 projects. Wayne talked about getting some gears from a junk car that wasn't even a Porsche. I don't have the book handy right now, but I'm pretty sure I read it there. Good luck.
