AC-update how's it working

I thought I would give a update on my AC upgrade-during the winter months I removed everything from the car then one by one replaced all the hoses with barrier type. I removed the engine lid condensor and replaced with a wheelwell condensor with fan, plus added a underbelly condensor,a new receiver drier and expansion valve.I used HC12A refrigerant and it has been working now since the end of February. Today it was 91 degrees in O-Town and the 10 minute drive home from work was nice and cool. This setup works great. You can feel a decrease in cooling when sitting at a stoplight but as soon as you are going faster then 10 mph that big underbelly condensor just sucks the heat out!! Stay cool out there!

Thanks for the update! If you have pics of the install in another thread please point them out (or post them up!).

Just my two cents worth on this thread.....earlier this year, I replaced the Denso compressor (bad/leaking main shaft seal), cleaned up the condensors, replaced o-rings as necessary, new receiver/dryer, 3 cans of R-12 AND added two 8 " Perma-Cool fans inside the whale tail (purchased from Jegs), and for reasons which I can't explain, I'm making vent temps so cold (35-40 degrees) here in North Texas (we've had several near 100 degree temps so far), I have to turn up the temp to keep the evap core from freezing. Still running the original hoses...stock front/rear condensors. I took a 300 mile trip out west about 2 weeks ago and with the assistance of a digital thermometer in the vent, I could maintain about 45 degree temps without "freezing up". I'm certainly not complaining, but this is so Un-Porschelike???

Glad to hear that things are working on everyone's AC system. If you could get a AC thermometer and get a accurate outlet temp it would help a bit.

I haven't decided to take my ac out of my 911 or not. It was upgraded while it lived in Florida. It needs charging now but I don't need it much where I live. I have been thinking about removing the AC compressor drive belt. Does it do damage to the AC system to leave the AC belt off?
Thanks

Yes. Most compressor has an oil seal which require oil in order to provide the seal. Running the compressor insure that the seal receive the oil.
