Duck Tail woes
I just got my fiberglass duck and noticed it wasn't fitting to well. I noticed the bottom end of the tail from edge to edge is about a 1/4 of an inch different (smaller) than the metal tail I had on there. Is this common? Should I just sand to fit?

I've got a duck tail that does the opposite of what your tail is doing...it's crap! I have almost a 1" gap! It's poor molding and I have to spend hours fixing it. Unfortunately I can't return mine...but if you can...return your tail.

I got mine from Shaw and it took hours by a shop to make presentable. It had big side gaps and bad upper corners.

When I shopped Ducks for my '72 I bought and returned numerous tails. Even the one I kept needed a lot of work and was only so so when done.
The method used on latter tails makes a lot of sense where fit and finish are important. i.e. bond the tail to a steel or aluminum lid.
