*****!!!! A civic hit me at an intersection! with pics
I was driving towards an intersection, the light was green and a 94 honda civic who was facing me made a left hand turn in front of me right as I was entering the intersection, damn it!!!!!! I got a couple witnesses, the guys civic it a major total I guess thats what u get when steel hits polyurethane. I was wondering since I live in the Granada Hills/ Northridge area if there was any body shops you can suggest, I was actually in the middle of fixing this sucker up it was my project I was doing a c2 conversion on it as u can see, I guess its a good time to get some new H4's and a new fender along with another c2 front bumper, all that happend to my car was the fender/hood/front bumper is gone. Any suggestions to where I can take it so I can tell the insurance. Thanks a bunch

Take it to the three most expensive places you can find...THEN take it to TRE to get fixed.
Sorry for your loss. Getting your block knocked off by a Civic is an ignoble turn of events. Why couldn't it have been a car with a decent pedigree? A Lotus or something!

I'll be in the shop tomorrow if you want to bring it by and I'll have a look at it for you. Let me handle the insurance company for you and maybe we can maximize the settlement.

TRE isn't a body shop.
Take it to Automotive Innovations and Restorations in Van Nuys. Kevin's a great guy and he really knows the 911. He'll take very good care of you. Sorry about your damage, but Kevin will make it right. Scott

looks like it should be a fix that can be made and which will leave your car back as it should be. but I bet it costs at least 5k. I had a similar accident and it was 8k!!!

I KNOW TRE isn't a body shop.....but Dave has contacts. Since I don't live in the Greater SmelLA area anymore, he would be the better choice of opinion.....

I don't think what you are implying is what Kevin was saying. What is important, however, is having an experienced shop take care of the estimate. Litttle things can add up, and sometimes these can be overlooked. Aside from the obvious body and alignment issues for example, when he was hit was there enough of an impact to stretch the seat belts? If so the they should be replaced(at least according to a recent thread on that subject. Also, why settle for inferior quality paint when glasurit was the original and could be used? At least that's how I interpret Kevin's statement.

Mitchell" "Haynes" and other companies and they didn't ask me what I charge when they wrote the time sheets. I have NO influence in the fair market value of anyones cars and that is how insurance determines some of your premium costs. Saying I have any influence on the cost of coverage is like telling your great grand children that they are responsible for their grandfather being an ass wipe. My job is to make sure that when the Field adjuster surveys the damage he is aware of everything that is likely to have resulted in the accident. It has been my experience that most adjusters are relatively new to the business and don't know Porsche's like most of us do. There is only so much they can know about these cars by looking in a book and calculating cost of parts and repair times.

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but here is my take anyway.
My recent personal experience is that the insurance companies can and will screw you over because they have no concept of parts costs or realistic market value. I came to Kevin with my settlement in hand after running through the whole process with a regular body shop. In my case the regular body shop wanted to order each part over the counter at the dealership. Since the cost was so high the insurance company wanted to total the car and give me probably 2/3 of what was required to obtain a similar replacement. I spent several months fighting just to get a reasonable amount of repair money that wouldn't total the car. Had I gone directly to Kevin my life would have been much easier. You wouldn't have an EMT perform orthopedic (or cosmetic) surgery so why have a regular panel bender work on your Porsche? To be done right your car needs a specialist, and the fact that he can work with the insurance company knowing what your car needs from experience and not a rate book is a huge advantage.

Well said Kevin. I just had my 300SD hit over holidays. Went to adjuster, he had everything on computer, including salvage yards and thier inventory and prices. Unless your familiar or get an experienced adjuster, the hidden things can cost you in the end.
