I'd like your opinion on this car.
Red 71 T on ebay. Dealer say's the 51,000 miles are original. No rust on pan. He has not checked the leakdown. Chrome has been painted? Why? Pick it apart and let me know please. He wants $10,000 for it. Weber Carbs also.
See the car here... I would also like to know if you guys think that I can use this car as a daily driver? I'm moving to Minnesota tommorow morning so there will be times where I'll be using my 4x4 but whenever I can I'd like to drive it as much as possible. I'm sick of my SUV. How reliable will it be? Assuming it passes a PPI. Thanks in advance, -J |

Does the dealer have records that confirm the mileage? If not I would probably not pick that car to have ony 51,000 miles. Based on condition it could easily be 151,000

J,
Looking at the heel mark in the carpet and the seat, also what appears to be newish paint, I tend to agree with ubiquity0. Still looks like a good car. Cheers Ray |

May be a good car but you could be dealing with a liar.
If there is no proof of the low miles, there is a deep discount. |

Welcome to Minnesota!
There's a very nice '69 w/rebuilt engine and Webers for sale here for about the same money. Might want to check it out and drive it.

Hey thanks,
Where is the car? And does it have a sunroof? Also, I've always liked MN. I love fishing and canoeing. Austin is a wonderful city but I'm tired of the heat. I'm really looking forward to the boundary waters. |

Picture a used car salesman saying, "This car was driven less than 2000 miles/year for the 28 years it was on the road" and "I am told it is a 2 owner car but I cannot verifiy this for sure" all in the same breath.
Now tell me your bogometer isn't pegging out. ![]() |

I agree completely. But at the same time buying a used car is always like that so I have to deal with a certain amount of bullspit nomatter what. So I'll use it to lower the price a bit. What else do you guys see?

My first 911 was a 71T. When I went and looked at it I didn't know anything about Porsche cars. Thank God you have this board!
When I looked at the car it seemed fine. Obviously, I wanted the car. These cars are great looking! A few days later, I heard some strange noises. I took the car to a shop and attempted to find the source of the noise. Upon putting the car on the lift I began to inspect the pan. Moving to the rear of the car I started to inspect the rear suspension mounting points. Faintly, I thought I saw some light coming from where the rear seats are. I reached up with my hand and felt the pan and rather than steel I felt TAR! Someone had put roofing tar on the bottom parts of the pan to cover huge rust holes. After removing the whole rear interior I was left in shock. To be honest I went from anger to sadness. Hear was this car I liked so much and now it was going to be a huge burden to fix. So I would tell you that something "seems" fishy about this car. Better get someone who knows these cars to take an afternoon, yes, an afternoon to check it out. Any major issue will cost you a lot even more than the car. So better have both eyes wide open on this one... good luck James

i'm no expert on early cars by any means..i drive a '74..but, i agree with kumma: early cars had chrome, not black window trim, chrome mirror, looks like the headlights are partially blacked out..don't like the black wheel center caps..gold '911t' and 'porsche' emblems..but that's all i can critique from pics.
