What holds up the rear bumper?
It looks like the PO had a fender bender at the driver rear. The bumper sits a bit low (see pic). The fender support under the rear 1/4 panel is broken. If I replace that...what else holds that bumper up?

Remove the screw that is on the inboard end of the impact strip and you'll see two nuts holding the bumper on.
This is what you should see once the bumper is off. ![]()

![]() These side mounts hold the bumper shock up which holds the bumper flush under the reflector and tailights. Loosen both sides up and lift the bumper up to the correct height and then tighten both sides. (With the bumper attached, of course.) |

You can actually do the adjustment with the bumper on the car. Just reach up from underneath to get to the bolts. If the shock is bent you will need to remove the bumper.
