Face lift with YB bumpers!

call it BB(black bastard) crappy (instead of scrappy) call it whatever you want...
but you cant call it pretty....

but it is now defiantly changed from when i bought it!

so after High engine temps down at FIR in PHX i decided it was time to ditch all the weight and go fiberglass bumpers with an oil cooler...my mechanic Jay Moore of (air-cooleds-only in prescott) is just finishing his rs replica and needs a cooler also....so i bought two off ebay and plan on fitting them..

i get my renspeed bumpers in... Jay was going to work on his RS Saturday and said i would stop by the shop and he would help me as i put the bumpers on...

It wasn’t a bolt on affair...

PITA to work with fiberglass.... never again..

after 8 hours i have two unpainted bumpers on my SC that still need to be fit a bit better and sanded down in places...

but i would be swimming in a pool of my own miserable failure had it not been for jay. He ended up helping me alot more then working on his RS... (like the whole time)

what mechanic do you know would spend his Saturday on his back with a grinder fitting a fiberglass bumper to a poor little punks beat-up SC? In between fittings he talked about working for andial ages ago and a various race cars... made for entertaining stuff!! there was something symbolic about his old long hood and my newer short hood... old meets new sorta thing..

I plan to take jay to the track with a few other AZ guys .... i said i would walk all over his “little early car”... and made a few comments about his “lawn furniture bamboo green” RS but he said something along the lines of "old age and tenacity always beats youth and enthusiasm " we will see come the fall!!

(I have a feeling my car should be faster... but I REALLY need some work to be any good at the track.)

pictures come later!

As with sausage manufacture, body work isn't something that one should watch

You'll be happy when you are done

Bill, ROFLMAO!!

Nick, you'll simply need a stack of washers used as spacers the thickness of the misalignment. Actually, I think they build that in so that on different cars, no one comes up short.

BTW, watch out for those older guys at the track in lighter cars.

Zeke, I know hes going to kick my butt on the track.... but that wont stop me from properly motivating him!

"body work isn't something that one should watch"

my car is pretty F'ed up so it wasn’t a case of just stacking washers..

i broke out the sandpaper and sanding wheel and it looks pretty good for my standards.... the bumpers i took off didn’t fit 1\2 as good...

its a SWB conversion!... back it into a tree at 80 and things move out of place just a bit...

Took the rockers off... IDK if it looks any better..

Nick,

Nice, it looks like it was worth the effort.

I would perhaps keep the rockers with those bumpers.
