Advice on what to leave on/take off

Ok, I took my beating on Ebay.... with my 1971 911T

http://jj.tauniverse.com/Porsche/npwt.jpg is my car cept there is a set of vilvaldi california mirrors on it instead of the chrome one.

I got offers but pretty much it seems ppl want to take off the stuff I added anyways. So I am gonna put it back to stock, or perhaps go abit RS'ish.

Do I pull the stock exhaust and put an rs dual one, would that help ?

I know.. remove the tail.... will be doing that and putting back on the stock lid. Or am I better off getting a duck on it and painting that to match ?

Leave the vivaldi mirrors on ?? I dont want to have to patch up holes on the passenger side.

Has 944 seats, should I look for more of a period seat ???

I added a nice stereo, that does not seem to matter, yank that and put in a std radio or some cheaper blaupunkt ?

leave the door panels which are fair to poor, or slap on a set of RS panels ???

Mechanically it's 100% with a nice 2.2 motor, E cams, S Pistons etc. and a fresh 901 tranny w/short shift kit.

Do I look for original shift knob or leave the momo on it ?

I have a grant steering wheel on it w/adapter, I spose it's best to remove that and put back on the original steering wheel which is in good shape ?

if I do some RS stuff, should I put on RS decals ???

Preciate the input.

you can email me direct at junglejoe@wi.rr.com if you want also.

would prefer that vs pm's

JJ

JJ:

I would recommend only doing work on the car that won't cost you any extra money. That means the ducktail isn't a good idea. But the stock lid, if it matches the paint is. Same goes for anything else you already have. Even trade but don't purchase parts. Every dollar you spend, you'll get about 15 cents back in your sale. If anything, just price it less and get it over with.

Just my two cents.

Get rid of anything not stock. Most of the parts you need can be had pretty cheap on this board... steering wheel, old stereo. Take the italian mirror off and get some plugs for the holes...the least obvious ones possible. Put the stock deck lid on it, try to get some 15" wheels and then get the =PORSCHE= script for the side of the car in black. Remove the tint on the windows.

That will get you started and should not be much out of pocket expense.

Good luck.

Agreed with previous comments, back to stock as cheaply as possible. For the passenger side, would another stock chrome mirror cover the holes? I like that more than plugs or the mirrors that are there now.

I would also consider replacing the missing rocker and front bumper trim. You'll need the end caps for the rocker trim to make it look right. That may get a little spendy but IMO it makes the car look more finished and more "loved". No graphics or stickers that are not stock.

Kiwi black shoe dye can make the cracks in the seats look a lot less obvious, if you had the stock seats I'd say put them back in.

Strip the paint off the fan and then sort the wiring. It looks kinda scary but with some zip ties and the original cover on the left side of the engine compartment it will look a lot nicer.

Then clean everything.

List it again. Package it better in your ad. Someone will buy it, maybe, even though everyone knows your reserve.

I bought mine on Ebay, as the highest bidder who didn't meet the reserve, just made a deal with the owner.

Use hot water, laundry soap in a large bucket with a toothbrush and clean everything - door sills, pedals, dash, etc. showing an immaculate product will make a HUGE difference. MORE than removing old parts, changing new ones, etc. AND it is simple.
