car keeps coming out of alignment....
ok so this is a 77 and I haven’t touched the suspension yet..
but…. I got the car aligned before I headed from Arizona to California … during the drive home I noticed a slight pull to the left develop… when I got back to AZ I had a realigned.. the guy(who deals mostly with trucks) drove it and said he had no idea how it cam unaligned and asked if I hit a large bump…. (I would define all of that states roads a series of large bumps) so he re- aligned it for free… So now a month later.. I drive up to Washington. 1\2 way through the 1600miles it develops a slight pull to the left again.. The car pulls more under braking… so it’s the front… When the trip is over I notice that the right front tire is worn to indicate that it has some toe-in… What is causing this toe-in to develop… the guy who aligned it said “everything was snug” Please be more specific then “worn out suspension” Thanks in advance -nick

Take it to someone like Trueline in Seattle who actually knows something about 911s.
Have them or someone like them do an alignment. Not a guy "who mostly does trucks". Get them or someone equally qualified to give an opinion of what is wrong or right about your suspsension. |

The Trueline guy is grumpy. Be prepared. He's not a "people person." JW sends his customers there. I went there, and my experience was not wholly good. But they probably did a nice alignment. I think they put the lug nuts on (the alloy ones) at about 280 lb/ft, for example.

- You may have a safety issue. Be really careful - a crash might be in your future...

You sure you don't have a sticking brake caliper?

Another suggestion for a Porsche guy that does it right the first time is Monty at Redmond European. |

The guy may have left a fastener loose. (note the poster says 'develop' -- implying it changed while driving).
Even if not, severe mis-alignment can alter the handling - so the issue there is can the drive predict and compensate in an emergency (when he is not thinking about it).

i just was under the car... nothing is coming loose... but i have other issues.. so i will look into it when i deal with those things...
the car still tracks down the road.. the light drift to the left could be mistaken for a grove in the pavement is so light... im going to have to give Monty at Redmond European a call to talk about a few other issues... namely the smoke pouring out of my car under braking... suspension is due this summer... so i will address the issue when i have time... i was wishing it was a "its your dinglehopper, easy fix" kinda question
