Replace oil line with SSI's already installed?

The PO modified the line that goes from the left side of the engine, then car rearward and around to the thermostat for his SSI installation. I backdated the heat on the car and went to install a Dansk 2 in 1 out sport muffler and found that it crashes into this oil line. So I ordered the 2 old style oil lines that I would need to replace the current line based on Wayne's write up.

Here's the question, can I install the new line which runs from the left side of the engine then goes underneath the engine to the thermostat without removing my SSI's?? Please tell me I can...Please!!!

At a guess, I think you'd find it very difficult to get purchase on the line where you need to button it up to the case.

I’ve replaced several of these and have never been able to get them on without removing the exhaust. It’s hard enough removing and installing using the correct wrench without damaging the nearby oil return tube even with the exhaust off.

I couldn't figure out any way to do it with out removing the exhaust. I spent one hour trying to install this line with the exhaust on. It took me 20min. to get the exhaust off.

OK. But I think I'll go another route. I'm going to have some spacers machined that will push the muffler car rearward from the SSI's. All I need is 20mm to clear the oil line and I am home free. So why not simply machine a piece of SS and bolt it between the SSI's and the muffler? This will give me the clearance I need and won't necessitate the removal of the SSI's. Do you guys see any issue with this?
