Mid Year Cars w/no Rockers

Anyone with a middle year car running without rockers? I just removed mine to replace the rear torsion bars and mounds mounds of dirt from a little off road excursion earlier in the year. Thinking about leaving them off.

Who's got pictures?

John

Steve,

Looks good since you don't have all the black details like the smile, the accordian bumpers , the painted Fuchs or a fixed tail w/ a rubber lip.

Looks pretty good. I just wondered about the jack point and how it would look. I also uncovered a rust hole and some bondo right above the jack point on one side so now I may need the rockers back on to cover up the fix.

Noah, (and others) do you have any better pictures of the RHS of your car as I'd like to see what you do to the oil lines? Mine look quite messay and I assume that the only way to dress them up is to replace them (i.e. ss braided or fined)?

Some more good side shots would be great. I like it because it accentuates the flares more and shows some more body lines.

Several mid year cars are run with no rockers. Less weight, less places to hold dirt and moisture that start rust (don't cover yours up without fixing it first) They look great. The '87 and up cars don't have the nice round torsion bar access hole, but anything earlier than that looks fine. You'll want to do something with the mounting tags for the rockers, probably.

Next question is...Torsion cover plate or no torsion cover plate?

I haven't had the rockers or t-bar covers on my car in years. I took them off when I went to bigger t-bars and actually paid money to have them blasted, chip guarded and painted. While I was waiting for them to be done by the body shop I grew to like the look and just never put them back on the car.

No rockers rock? Yes indeed they do, or don't... or do. Just take them off. Without, the car looks less bulky, heavy, and makes it look more trim and agile

I tried to up load a few pics from that side but, once there are more than three or 4 pics in a thread, I can't load anymore.

The oil lines are a little difficult to see as I painted them with high temp flat black paint.

Cool

This look is really starting to work on me.

I like the clean look it imparts. It also makes me look a little thinner. As you know in our world, looks can get you everything!
It also confuses the ilinformed. Priceless.

Just beware the aux. oil cooler lines. Look at the pictures of my car without the rockers and you'll see the brass lines really stand out against the red. I think my car looks like total poo with the rockers off.
