205/55-15 on a 6" wheel?

I've got 205/55 tires on 7" Fuchs on my '77 911S, but I have found a set of 6" Fuchs that I'd like to use with the 205/55-15 tires so I can mount my 225/50 R tires on the 7" wheels.

The info on Tirerack says I should be using 6.5" wheels. Anyone running 205/55 on a 6" wheel?
Thanks,

yes...and I don't like it. Well it's a 205/60 and the roll of the tire sidewall just plain sucks at times. I just purchased a new set of rubber and went with 195/55 for my 6" Fuchs.

I'm running 195/60 on 6" Fuchs on one car and they look and stick well (running on Yok AVS's). The other car has 205/55 BFG's on 6" rims and the sidewall is a bit ballooned out. However, the tires do seem to stick well. Could be that the tires are Z-rated though.

I run 225/55 on 6's. My lap times aren't great, however.

Rod:

I race on 6"X15" fuchs with:

1. 195/60/15s
2. 205/50/15s
3. 225/50/15s

All are shaved Toyo RA-1s. Push them HARD and never pop a bead or had a tire failure. Different sizes accomodate the tracks I run at as 741 transaxles aren't cheap or easy to swap.

I run Yoko EVS 215/60/15s on 6.5" X 15" mini-lites on my '76 Targa. Looks OK but am thinking of returning to 205/55/15s T1-S b/c it is a shared size with my E30 iX running 15X7 BBS rims.

FWIW

205 55 16 is the stock size of 80's carrera's with 16 x 6" up front. I think if Porsche thinks that 205 55 is OK on 16" you should be OK on 15's.

I personally run 205 60 15's on my 6" x 15"'s

Thanks everyone. I've found more info on the Tirerack site that 205/55 tires can be run on wheels between 5.5" and 7.5".
