I don't want to be alarmist here, but I think you might be in a spot of bother. The 930 is now in your possession,so you own it. To obtain the title from the bank you will have to pay the outstanding balance on the car to the bank. I would get an attorney post haste onto this because you could be paying for a car TWICE!!

Now That's funny!

Regarding dealers dropping the ball, in 1990 I traded in a car for a new 4x4 truck at Metro Nissan in a Montclair, CA . Part of the deal of course was that they'd pay off the loan on the trade-in.

Couple months go by when I'm informed that my credit got ding'd for being 30 days late because the dealer failed to pay off the loan. Took them 3 months of constant calls from me and the original bank to pay it off. Nice, huh? Well, at least they lost all my future business and I made sure lots of friends never bought from them again.

Good luck Thunder Punk. Hope you get your title issue sorted out soon.

I've got to give them a little time. If it's not here by next week then a will contact an attorney. If they force me to do this then i will file suit for false advertisement as well.

It's one thing to show up on a car lot and inspect a vehicle making a decision to buy. It's another story for a dealer to put in writing the condition of the car and falsify what is written. It's called evidence and I have a copy of it even though they took the add down the day I complained about the false statement regarding the condition of the car. They will burn at the stake for it and they know it.

I've got time. A full year to file suit if it's required. After speaking with the salesman two days ago he promised I would have a temp tag and other papers the next morning. FedEx delivered the papers as I was told before 10:00am the next morning. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. After a week more it's hammer time.

What makes people think they can get away with things like this? I'll nail them to the wall. They will recieve felony convictions if they force me to file against them. It won't be pretty and I think they know it. I didn't post my letter to them on this board for evidence purposes. I'm not worried. They have to cash my personal check to get paid. That will be coming back to me as proof of the sale. The ball is most certainly in my court. We'll see what happens next week.

In other news.....I detailed the car really good tonight and got a good look at every nook and cranny of the car. It's in good shape as far as the body and motor are concerned. Acouple of things like the mirror, passenger window, AC, wheels and tires need attention but overall it's a nice piece.

I took it out for a spin today and put about 30 miles on it. the tranny is really tight and the motor runs great. I have no complaints here. The body and the motor were the two most important things for me when deciding to purchase this car. So far so good there. If my title shows up next week as promised then I'll be ok. Time will tell.

I put about 100 miles on the car this weekend. No leaks and very tight. Brought it out on the interstate and she runs great. the tire issue was in the back of my mind the entire time though.

I've got a list of to do's and will be contacting Pelican Parts tomorrow to place an order for everything I need.

I'm so happy that I found this website and I look forward to sharing my ownership experiences with you all over the years.

- Thunder- I am so glad you are happy with the car!
The dealers, well that I am sure, is another story!.

When I saw the car, as previously mentioned, the things that were crucial- engine and bodywork/interior all seemed okay. Tires are cheap and you can refinished the Fuchs yourself if you have the time!. Wet & Dry sand / polish etc- winter project?.

You took a risk buying unseen and without a PPI even though from a dealer. But I think you have a solid car in my opinion.
Happy Motoring!
Ben

I do. There in no rust evident anywhere on the vehicle. Even underneath. The tranny is tight and smooth and the sychros are perfect. I don't think this car had a hard mile put on it since it was new.

I'm amazed at how well these cars hold up. There isn't a rattle anywhere to be heard on the car. And the roads down here in southeast Louisiana are not the smoothest either. I can't wait to get some new rubber on it to see how much better it drives.

Newsflash.......I contacted FL. DMV on Wednesday. They informed me that a dealer MUST have the title prior to selling any vehicle. Armed with that information I contacted the seller. He informed me that the title was on it's way. I received the title the next day.

The car is now registered in my state and I'm legal. I think a little more caution on my part may have gone a long way in soothing my nerves. I was lucky on this one. Lesson learned. I'm just glad that it didn't cost me.

I managed to get the floor lift in place and bolted down. It works great. Now to inform the wife of the $5000.00 in equipment that I need to purchase to maintain the car! This may prove to be more difficult than getting the title from the dealer. LOL. Wait a minute....Father's day is this Sunday......(insert evil laugh here)

Thanks guys.

i dont know if you have solved the problem but the same thing happened to me w/ my 76. the mechanic noticed my head gaskets leaking and thought that using a thicker grade of oil would help. when i started driving the car, the airfilter box filled w/oil. we tore down the engine and the oil cooler was in poor shape and clogged. he believed this caused the oil to back up into the air box. i am not sure this right but it sounds good.

Thunder Punk 06-18-2005 07:25 PM

My mechanic mentioned that to me too. I've been checking the oil levels regularly and it's not dropping. However, my oil level guage drops into the red under normal acceleration. Under hard acceleration it pegs out into the red. I read in my owner's manual that the guage is only accurate if the car is idling and level. Is this normal?
