It started out like any other group drive...

...a little overcast at the XXX:

Gunter and Ross debating the merits of a 3.6 car:

Dane and Traci arrive (finally!) :

Waiting for Bill in North Bend...waiting...waiting...:

If I see another picture of this car I'm going to hurl :

More to come...

It was all going so well...

...something had to give and did.

Dane and the rest of the lead-foots were a bit a head of the rest of us. We had just crested Blewett Pass when I passed Gunter. I come around a corner to see a WA State Highway Patrol cruzin' in the opposite direction. He slows, pulls a U-turn and flips on the lights. I'm thinkin' he's got to be going after the fast group but nope, he's pulling ME over...the slow guy...the guy that can't keep up. How the hell is he not going after Dane and company???

The officer asked me if those were my friends that were up a head. I looked at him as if to say "are freakin' serious?!?!". No, I'm a random Porsche driver in the middle of a pack of speeding Porsches, I don't know any of the five cars in front of me nor the three cars behind me. He then mentions that he didn't get them on radar because they all slammed their brakes on before he could nail 'em.

For more info on how that went down see this thread.

Once I caught back up with the rest of the group I was given the pot for our Poker Run ($90!). Thanks guys and gals, that'll pay a good chunk of it!

Carrying on into Leavenworth at much more legal speeds:

The pavements end up Icicle Canyon Rd....a GREAT third gear twisty bit of road:

...and yes, the wife was pissed-off about the ticket.

It's Drago's story I'll just add pictures'

Ran into traffic and rain going over the pass. Blewett was awesome as usual....right up till we "ran into" WSP on the downhill side.

At Cle Elum we draw part of our poker hands. Weather is getting much better.

Drago "winning " the $90 poker hand for the $156. ticket

The Sleeping Lady for lunch in Leavenworth

gototom takes on one of the local favorites, Icicle Canyon. Incredible summer day.

And some great folks to drive with. End of the pavement meeting....and "how fast can we find ice cream?"

Remember "Fight every ticket!"'

I think Gunter got a ticket going back home.

On my way back I took #2 from Waterville to the Coulee Dam and then #25 up to Coleville. I have to say that this route rocks; very little traffic and some good S-curves. On the straights you can do 110 if you wish. It is something to consider for a run.
Around Coulee City is a 40-mile-zone and my Fuzzbuster went wild. I didn't see anything except a few bushes. And there he was hiding; police on a motorcycle. I ask you: Is that fair?
Radar detector and VISA; don't leave home without it!

A beautiful area! I lived in Wenatche '85-'92. Didn't have a P-Car at the time but rode 'Old Blewitt Pass' to the new pass and back to Wenatchee on the road bicycle for a splendid workout.
There are so many roads built for Porsche driving up there! We are taking a 'Targa Trip' up there the first week of July [if the 3.6 conversion is done by then].
A good 'top speed' testing road is out by the Hanford Nuclear plant.

Huuummmmm... how to I answer that? You mean what they were caught at or how fast were we driving?

I think Marc was tagged at "80+" on the ticket and a set fee of $156 in a 60 (65?) mph zone. But we always drive at safe and sane speeds for the conditions and the cars. No idea why Drago decided to drive beyond the speed limit

NO, NO, NO, NO TICKET! The Maple Leaf up front bounces off the signal from the radar gun. I am saying: Is it fair to hide in the bushes to way-lay innocent tourists? On a motorcycle yet. No class.
These radar detectors are fantastic! Mine goes off even when smokey is hiding around the corner; Marc: You have to get one!
Dane: How bad are the flat spots on your tires? You should have been fined for the color alone; purple/lilac?
I can see the friendly cop saying: I don't care about you speeding but, THE COLOR!
Check out the roads I took back home: The #2 from Waterville past Coulee City to Wilbur, then #21 north to Republic, or the #25 north to Kettle Falls.
That's some serious driving; a suggestion for the future: A loop going on #2, then #25 up to Kettle Falls, then west on #20 back to Seattle. The first leg on #2 could mean an overnight stay in Spokane.

Couple of good roads in that area with smooth pavement and where you can see for miles in either direction. Makes a Valentine very effective and the travel time short.

5900rpm, 5th gear..148 or so mph.

Well thank goodness it was only one ticket!

Yesterday the WSP guy was so stunned by the beautiful color Gunter that he couldn't get a lock on his radar and had to go looking for another car.

Looks like a fantastic time. You guys in the PNW really know how to do it.

Drago, I only have one question...

Thanks for the laugh Drago, sorry it was at the expense of a ticket! Looks like you guys had a great run though.

That's disturbing, Marc. In case some of you guys don't know Marc, he's worth his weight in platinum. And no, he's not a small man by any measure. In any sense.

Big man, big smile, big heart.

Yes, the PNW is breathtaking. To say the least.

And Sleeping Lady food is amazing. Truly gourmet.

Fight every ticket. Contact that attorney guy in our area who never loses. Fines I don't care about. Driving record I do.
