Trunk lid shocks shot
My front hood shocks, (ok not really hydrolic), have finally stopped holding the hood up. Do I need new parts or can I fix this myself?
Thanks, Nik

No other option that I am aware of.....new ones.

Then you just need to decide on normal ones or the longer lasting (and more expensive!) Weltmeister ones.

Our host has the shocks, which are reasonably inexpensive.

Get the upgraded ones. The job is a PITA, so you might as well try to avoid having to do it again.

hydraulic -- if you have to search
and, yes, get the heavy duty ones to minimize the frequency you have to do this. search to get detailed instructions on how to do it -- a 45 degree angled (bent nose) hemostat and some thread will make your life a lot easier

One thing that helped me when I did this was to get some really long surgical tweezer things (hemostats?) which are sold at a lot of the better tool stores. This really makes it easier to work in the tight spaces.
