2.4 engine cost
anyone care to comment on cost of a used (supposedly rebuilt) 73 2.4 CIS engine that needs new exchangers and muffler - advertised for $2000. US

Without some history, paperwork on the rebuild, and documented compression/leakdown test results, I'd be going 500-750 on that. With documentation, $2k is reasonable.

Not much engine there. Unless you're shooting for awesome fuel mileage.
These cars (late-'73T) got 30+ mpg when driven sanely. But the internal parts are useless when it comes time to hot-rod. (T-cams, low-compression CIS pistons, small-port heads) So if that's your goal, look elsewhere for a core motor.
