Humidity and CIS?
I did a search on those topics and the knowledge base was shallow....
I don't drive my 911 every day. On Saturday it was hot and humid here. LIke 90 degrees and miserable. Car drove well, about like normal. Today, it was about 75 (or less) and the humidity was much lower. The car ran great! Strong accelleration - quicker than usual. Maybe I'm just imagining things. We all know the drill about the 1/8th turn in the summer (I did this a few weeks ago and it was good!) but how about humidity? I realize this is a major pain in the ass for the street, but what do you track nuts do? Do you adjust when you're at the track depending on the conditions when you arrive? And which way would you turn it for high humidity? More lean? |
Unrelated, but I love the Bucky Katt avatar. I love the Porsche hood ornament.

75* with low humidity packs more air into every stroke than 90* with high humidity.
I lean the CIS out every summer. It lets me know by the rythmic 800 - 1300 rpm idle when warm. The (warm) air is less dense in the summer so you need less fuel to creat the proper ratio. You also get less power. Water vapor (humidity) also displaces air making it less dense. |
I usually set mine to a point just before the idle starts to fluctuate on a hot humid day. Then it's fine for the rest of the summer until well into the fall.
