Sort of, a dry sump will generate a partial vacuum in the crankcase. This serves the same purpose as a PVC.

It is common practice to add another 1 way valve to further enhance the cc vac. the goal a few extra hp.

It is a factory piece on the 996 Cups

I believe there is a vent line from the oil tank to the intake, just below the throttle body. This vacuum sucks oil fumes into the intake. I don't think there is a traditional "PCV Valve" though.

Bill, can you describe this 1 way valve a bit more? Where does it go? The vent line I described?

Here is a pic of the valve

It goes on the cc breather, which is normally a neutral or 2 way operation. it is a one way valve that allows pressure pulses out of the cc but does not allow regression of the pulses.

The bigger the pistons the more air is moved around in the cc, 3.6 has a bit of a problem, 3.8 much more so. These types of devices enhance the natural dry sump induced cc vacuum. Very common on race motors w/ big pistons, and high perf Harleys & Ducatis of course.

there are other methiods of generating cc vac, from mech pumps to the exhaust driven method used by the nasty car guys

Interesting. How would you add this 996 part to a 3.6?

Dunno, just looking into it now, there are several options for the valve, it is a low tech item.
