Crashed one, bought another!
 

Many of you saw my thread about my previous '86 911 Coupe being crashed and eventually sold. Well, it's been long enough, we've replaced the '86 with an '87! :)

The car is a 1 owner, lady driven, CA car. Original engine, no rebuild, 127k miles. Interior is damn near perfect. When I originally saw the car, I thought "Repaint!" because the color was extremely faded and the car was just dirty as hell. Tree sap, dust, and Lord knows what else, everywhere. It has a Momo steering wheel with some signature on it, I'm going to end up replacing that with a 930S ASAP. After that I'll look into lowering and some new wheels. I'm not sure if this is US spec or Euro spec height, maybe you folks can educate me. It looks like US spec to me.

The car goes in to the shop tomorrow for oil change, valve adjustment and general checkup. Once everything checks out and any needed work is done, the car is on the way to Miami to my brother. He paid for it, I just picked it out. I've been trying to convince him to forget the whole Porsche thing and I'll buy the car from him, but he's not hearing any of it...ah well. Maybe he'll get tired of it in a year or so!

I don't know what the value of the steering wheel is so I guess I need some people to educate me, or make me an offer, or just trade me for a 930S steering wheel. :) Either way, let me know.

not to ruffle any feathers, but that is a really cool steering wheel. I'd keep it. (you can pick up a 930 wheel anytime, anywhere)

Yes! I *had* a red ducktail! Now I wish I had never sold it! :P

Yuhp, I figured they were sport seats the minute I sat in them. Pretty different from my '86 seats.

The car is at the shop today. Looks like it'll need a new clutch ($$$!). Lord knows what will be said about the engine, although it feels very strong. The lowering will end up being 24.5/25 and the original Fuchs will stay. Bob@RMG convinced me not to replace the Fuchs unless I'm gonna go with wider/bigger Fuchs.

Needs to be the other way around front wheel arch 1/2" higher than back wheel arch. But your probably know that.

Nice find...it's amazing what cleaner wax and a lot of buffing can do to neglected original Porsche paint.

I assume you got a really good deal on it? Feed our curiousity...we all love bargain finds. :)

I actually got an awesome deal on the car. Unfortunately I just had RMG check it out and the car needs a top end rebuild. I think I might just sell it as I don't have the time or resources to do a top end rebuild myself. Oh well, such is life.

Yes, even with a top end rebuild, I got a good enough deal that it's still OK. I had my fears that it would need the rebuild from looking at the records and previous leakdown/compression numbers. I was kinda hoping the numbers were lying! :)

So, anyone wanna buy an '87 that needs a top-end rebuild? Otherwise one of the guys at RMG will buy it from me in a day or so.

Ironic ! I just took that very same wheel (signature kinda faded the same) off my 73 ! I was going to toss it but it's it nice shape.. What's it worth ?

Oh yeah, th epoint is - it fits an early car too, obviously... But you need the momo adapter too. (a good thing for your driving position as that brings the wheel a tad closer to you and further away from the dash)

Compression test, leakdown, etc. They said I can come by and watch them do the tests over again. I think they're correct though.

I didn't listen 100% when he was telling me, but basically 2-3 of the cylinders are very weak. I'll ask him later about details. I'm trying to get in contact with my brother just in case he still wants to keep it and do the rebuild. Most likely he won't as it's a hassle for us.
