New 911 owner with a question.
First time poster in this section, I sold my 951 a year ago, and this weekend picked up an 80 SC from a freind of mine in some financial trouble.
First off, it runs great, drives well and looks good. Only exception is it leaks oil like every Porsche I have ever owned. (all water cooled unitl now) For the 944/951 there was a website by Clark Fletcher that told you how to tear down and repair everythying, and since my roots are in auto mechanics I like to do everything myself. Does such a website exist for the 911 world? I just need something to tie me over until I can source some factory service manuals.

You just bought your first aircooled Porsche? What about the RSA?
Anyway, you found the website right here at Pelican, my friend. Use the search button and you will get more than you will need. ALso, go out and purchase our host's book."101 Projects for your Porsche 911". Great section on teardown and oil leaks. Welcome to the group.

Also check out the "Tech Info Center" tab at the top of the page. Very helpful information can be found there. SC's are great, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Yea the RSA was air cooled as well, I did not own it for very long and it has been a while since I logged in. I also never had to work on the RSA at all. I guess what I meant to say was that I have never worked on an air cooled Porsche before. DOH.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, I'll get the book tomorrow. In the past I have tried to support Pelican with every parts purchase I ever made.

Mine doesn't leak, not even a drop--literally. Clean it off, identify the source and fix it. Bentley manual is very good.

It looks to be (from the pictures in the tech section) the oil sump, the rear main and some of the oil return tubes that are leaking. Nothing to serious from the looks of it. Tranny removal looks pretty straight forward, and the expandable oil tubes in the tech section look pretty easy.
