Help me pick a vanity plate
Coming up all blanks for a suitable vanity plate to put on my new to me 1987 Black 911
Here in CA. we can now order the old Black and Gold plates from the 60's. While that's not the proper color plate for the era car, i think it'll look fantastic on the all black car. I've recently ordered one for my '87 Grand National (Black as well) Its plate reads "BLCK AIR" after the documentary made about the car. My '74 German spec. classic Mini Cooper reads "GER MINI" My '63 Impala (on hydraulics) read "IT'L DROP" So, that gives you an idea of what i've had/have and the level of clever i'm after. Trying for something that relates to the car somehow. All i can come up with so far are some basic ones like: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Throw some suggestions at me and maybe we can find something fitting for the car.

Proper Roman 911 is CMXI, just FYI
How about XX911XX

Thanks for the Roman numeral catch, I'm not sure anyone would get it that way though. I kinda like the XX version too.

NEUNELF (German for 911)
12 QTS (self explanatory) NEVERL8 (just for fun) My dad dubbed his "The Machine" so when I inherited it, I got one that said "MACHINE" as tribute.

Double check if "DAS 911" and "BLK 911" are allowed. I recall hearing that a new vanity plate cannot too closely match previously-issued plates. So because CA used to offer "3 numbers-3 letters" and then "3 letters-3 numbers" serial plates, you can't do something like that now. So I've been told. Can anyone confirm?

Some cool one I've seen over the years:
911 SC - On Ramp A motorcycle I chased for 8 miles, then he crashed: FlewByU

Are available online does not mean the DMV will grant you the desired plate. Read the little box "Please Note" below where you enter your desired plate configuration on the CA DMV website.

I understand that. But from my desk at home, this is the best i can do. I'll let the DMV do their job and get back to me when the time comes i guess.

If I did my vanity plate over again for my '87 I would do 87 G50.

I've thought of that one too. It's just not that "unique" I won't rule it out however.
