A/C Condenser Question
A local foreign car mechanic has told me that he has installed the evaporator coil from the smugglers box in the left wheel well of several 911s as a secondary in-line condenser. He said that the windshield fluid container was removed and an external blower fan completed the installation with no complaints in two years.

Evaporators typically operate at lower refrigerant pressures (being "downstream" of the expansion valve, capilliary tube, etc.) than condensers so I would first check an evaporator's pressure rating before putting it into service as a condenser.

If you are thinking about this, you may want to consider looking up Rennair. You can call them too. And other suppliers would be able to comment on the condensors they sell.
Hope this helps. Regards,

Karen: Do a search for my name and "condenser." You'll see lots of discussions about adding a front left condenser to my car. Overall I'm very happy with the modification.
