Anyone using Tec-3 in place of Motronic?
Just thinking out loud here,, I dont want to use the 3.2 Motronic when I upgrade my 3.2 this winter to a 3.4, J&E's 10.5/1 twin plug etc, etc,, Looking at the cost of just the twin plug setup and not being able to have Steve W sitting next to me burning chips, it does not look like a bad idea if its really a good system, Anyone using the new Tec3r? Looks to me like you scrap just about everything but the injectors and the intake manifold?
Thanks Craig |

Well? I guess I will give it a try, Going to scrap the complete intake and go with the ITB's and twin plug setup, kinda pricy but if I dont spend it the wife will!!

I would if I where you! Programable EFI is much more modern than the motronic in the Carrera. They are easy to install and very reliable. For a twin plug setup, id say its a no brainer! If going to individual throttle bodies you will be using a speed density set up - Manifold Air temp + Manifold air pressure + Throttle position. If you are sticking to the carrera intake, you will be using Mass Air Flow (GM Hot wire sensor) + Throttle position. Either way, out goes that restrictive motronic flapper box!
BTW - I converted a CIS car to a fuel only computer(haltech f9a), it was fairly straight forward and made the car so much more drivable. Im a big fan of Programable EFI, I think many people are scared of it, but its pretty simple and actualy quite crude!

Yes
Tec works as do others. Haltech, Motec, Dastek, EFI systems, SDS,Link Autronic...' most just need a few inputs from the existing sensors on an engine of yours

I am currently trying to piece together a set up using Jenveys ITB's and probably a Haltech (shameless plug for TimT) It will either be on a 3.6 or a 3.4 twin plug that I am putting together. Will keep people posted as this gets put together. Just be patient.
Cheers, Jeff

I would be using the kit from Clewett which uses the TWM tb's and they would offer the support I really need. I have looked a the cost of twin plug, extrude hone, bore the TB custom chip etc, all these costs really add up quick, with the kit it looks to crap it all, if it really works?

Yes, you can twin-plug quite easily with the EDIS/Megasquirt system. Just run another coil pack in parallel.
I should be up and running soon. Souk and I were doing a final once over on the fuel system plumbing and found that I installed the wrong fitting in the end of one of the fuel rails. The way it is set up, the fitting won't make a good seal and it may leak. So I ordered a new fitting. Once that is in place, I will start it up. Brother - You would be right at $3K with EDIS. If you want a full list of what the kit includes, send me a PM.

Mike,
That sounds like exactly what I'll need for my 3.6 project since I have no induction and no ignition lined up as the motor (slowly) begins to come together. I sent you a PM to solicite more details.
