My Carrera is getting a little wider

The project is finally moving along a little bit...

I found some early style turbo rear flares (the ones with the whole torsion bar hole... ala IROC?RSR) and 930 front fenders.

The rear bumper will be IROC in fiberglass whilst the front one will be a 934 1 piece bumper, also in fiberglass.

The flag mirrors are gone and will be replaced by some Vitaloni... to get a 934 look.

Also I decided to go "rocker-less" and so all the little holes under the sides have been welded.

These are some pictures taken last week.

As we speek the car is in the paint-room...

Should be ready next week.

The front tires are 275/40-17 on 9.5 wheels
Ther rear tires are 315/35-17 on 11 wheels

The exhaust is an Instant-G stainless steel. It has cats as well... to pass NC emission tests.

17s in back and 15s in front? That car is gonna be fast, it will always be going down hill ;)

Shuie 06-24-2005 01:36 PM

sammyg2 06-24-2005 02:00 PM

too bad. You coulda picked up some serious speed goin down that hill but you would prolly fade your brakes ;)

Steve87-911 06-24-2005 02:03 PM

My car just saw those pics and went running off in tears back to the garage.

Leland Pate 06-24-2005 02:40 PM

I have never seen front tires that wide in a 911.

ssetek 06-24-2005 02:58 PM

what offset are those wheels and are you using any spacers at all
im looking to do the same exact tiresize combo and am looking into et for wheels

911teo 06-24-2005 03:56 PM

The wheels were custom made by Mike Lindsey.

They were designed to run with 1/8" spacers to clear the calipers (Brembo GTPs). I do not know the offset but could call Mike on MOnday and find out.

The car has not been set yet (camber, height, toe, balance etc.) but we might have to use a little bigger spacers at the front (thinking of running a -1.25 camber in the front).

We'll see.... We rolled the fenders to be safe

Ron.G 06-24-2005 04:03 PM

Man that looks awsome and to think my car will be wearing your old fenders!

ssetek 06-24-2005 04:21 PM

that would be graet if you could call i want to run a 1/8 to 1/4 inch spacer so when i run the car on the street the wheels wil be pushed out all the way and then when i track the car i can suck the wheels in a little for clearance

SalazarS2K 06-24-2005 05:04 PM

Matteo, some nice massive rollers on that thing. What kind of oil cooler do you have up there? (brand, size, price?)

JBO 06-24-2005 05:57 PM

...wider is definitely better...

89911 06-24-2005 06:18 PM

My Carrera is getting a little wider.....and a little more expensive;) . I caught the list of things your planing in the future. Since I'm a victim of upgrading also, one item I would recommend above all others is getting your G50 regeared, mainly 3-5th. It is the single best improvement done on the car.

felix_browne 06-24-2005 06:42 PM

i must say the turbo look is very very sexy. my girlfriend doesn't have curves that nice. (ssshhhh) best thing tho about the m491 cars was the turbo breaks and suspention upgrades on an na car. hope that those are in your future as well. even if they are not, i'm way envious.
p.s. your front tires are just about the size of my rears. ouch.

It's either a Mocal or a Setrab STD 172. It's one of the first things I bought 5 months ago. I'll dig the receipt and give you more details on Monday.
It cost around $800 with lines and mounting hardware.

It is connected in series to my fendermounted Carrera cooler.

rdane 06-24-2005 08:06 PM

Very cool car! Have you ducted the front cooler through the tub?

911teo 06-25-2005 05:11 AM

Felix, 89911

the list of upgrades that I thought were necessary to properly take advantage of possibly an extra 100rwhp is endless...

Stiffer tbars, polibronze bushings, adj sways, new shocks, monoballs, camber plates, new brakes etc... I'll go more in details when the car is ready (and I 0will take more pics).

It has just taken soooo long... coordinating the supplies with the actual shops to do the work has been a challenge... but we are nearly there...
