R+R'd shifter bushings today- wow !!!
I removed and replaced my shifter bushings today and wow what a difference. I have a 83SC and I always thought the shifter in my car was pretty good compared to some of the stories on here and Rennlist. Anyway I purchased the brass bushings from Pelican along with a new cup bushing and shift rod bushing. The job took about 4 hours total and that includes removing and replacing the center console. The shift coupler bushings I removed were very worn and the shift rod bushing was a 2 piece mess, the cup bushing looked O.K. but I replaced it anyway.Even though I thought I did a good job of marking the coupler position before I removed it I had to make about 4 adjustments before it shifted the way I wanted it to. This is the best $60.00 I have spent to date, the shifting is very precise and has a much better "feel" to it now. It's not a speed shifter but I am very happy with the results. Now on to replacing the gear oil.
