Side Script...whaddya' think ??

Just today installed the Carrera side script decal. Not as easy as many make it sound but done well, I think.

Those 6's up front look crappy but have 7's and 8's coming this week.

Yep, I agree, but I don't like the standard all FG ducks. That outfit in Fla. makes the right, IMHO, but they are spendy at 1K. In time, that's the way I'll go.

Nope, not the standard script...the 'newer' version made by those guys in Malta....only slightly different.

Most excellent.

Put a duck (and chin) on that pretty-baby, she deserves it.

We have a '74 coupe in yellow around the BayArea who does a lot of our AXs and TTs, looks just like yours and its fantastic. Do it man!

Todd,
First of all, do a search for 'side script install' and/or variations of that phrase. There's lots of tips from others...some who do such things for a living. I used the wet method...soapy water w/alcohol mix to spray the area getting the decal. It helped, but the masking tape 'hinge' along the top gave up with the soapy water. My best suggestion is measure several times, view to check appearance and mark where the bottom edge is to go with a 'china marker pencil' which will rub or wash right off. For certain take your time and be sure all the backing paper is coming off completely. PM me if you have further questions but a search is your best tool....as usual.

Couple of ways to do the install....slower but less apt to fail is the dip in the soapy water way. Squeeze out the bubbles and water with a soft bondo spreader.

looks nice, just not correct due to the font being lower and slantaed more or so it appears. The car looks very nice even with the wheels you have. =o)

HD.
I know what you're saying. This is the newer ? font style produced by the guys in Malta. I just like the look better but right you are, it's not THE original font script for early Carrera.

Kevin,

Cool! What color is that script? Where did you get it? It would look cool on my Rosewood SC (I think)

Steve, it's a gold script from the Malta guys on Ebay.

Mark,
VERY nice Targa. Damn, but I love yellow Porsches...Original color looks more like an older Champagne Yellow..?

Who made your Duck? Let us see it when it's done.

Porsche Crest

The second owner had a fender bender and it was re-sprayed with a color matched but not Glasurit. He also added metal flake?? It is now the correct color and the correct Glasurit - Light Yellow code 117.

I am working on the wiring harness right now. Just cleaning everthing up a bit. I can't seem to put dirty old parts back on the clean car. The engine is done. The transaxle is re-built and all I need now is time and a little more money!

Here's the engine and it's eventual home.

The duck tail is an aftermarket that we re-painted. I purchased a Gary Kempton - Made by Hand tail (just like an original steel frame w/ glass added scoop) but it needs additional glass work and painting. Its fit is WAY off.

Mark,
Very sweet engine... As to the duck, that's the way I wanna go eventually but they are spendy. I've been in touch with them as has my pard, Doug, in Fla. Time and money..as you said. I just want a steel deck lid with a duck...these all FG decks don't appeal to me that much on a street car.

In Gary Kempton's defense, when I spoke with him before I bought the ducktail, he told me that it was not going to be a perfect fit and that he didn't want to hear about it once I received the tail. I laughed and said OK.

BTW, it's not a perfect fit! LOL!
