How much more oil does a Carrera cooler hold?

I just replaced my 28 tube cooler with a stock Carrera one. I think I might have lost 1/4-1/2 a qt. while removing the lines and cooler and my oil level was fine before that. After some spirited driving today I was down almost 2 qts. and my car is bone dry (except for the blood spatter from the deer I also hit today) So does a Carrera cooler really have a much larger capacity? Thanks.

I don't know how much more oil, but seriously... You can't expect to post a a deer hit, and not expect people like me to demand pictures! We need proof of carnage...

Wanna see 15-20 degrees cooler than what you've accomplished? Throw on a cooler scoop!

EEEEYIKEESSS!!! How come you didn't show pictures of the driver's seat too Just kidding... Lucky my interior is black, or otherwise it would have a funny brown stain on it if that ever happened to me! When you hit, it must of sounded like the world was coming to an end, at least for your car!! Hate to see that happen to anyone... Did I see a crease in the fender just below the headlight ring? Looks expensive....

Cheers to you on your cooler upgrade! I'm quite surprised that more people don't use the "Scoop." I sometimes make the run across the Mojave Desert in the Summer, and wouldn't be able to run hard without the scoop. I'll often see O.A.T. at 105*-110*, and run about 100mph with A/C on, and will not see temps above 215*. Without the scoop in same conditions, I would see 240*plus! Of course if I slowed down to 70mph without scoop, it would cool down to about 220*. I'm curious if SC's with the scoop would see similar improvements... For $100 and about 15 minutes labor, I would sure at least try it first!!

Looks like you have a great group of cars to run with! I liked the '85 Carrera with the original phone dial wheels. You rarely see that in CA!! I still have mine sitting on a shelf in the garage. Made the switch to 16" Fuchs many years ago...

I wasn't scared at all, as I didn't even see what had happened. There were maybe two car lengths between me and the red Carrera in front of me. Deer jumped right out and I just saw a tan flash and felt a thud. Road was so narrow and winding that I had to go another two miles before I could stop and take a look. Green912 behind me said he saw the deer fly up about 25 ft. and explode. There's no crease under the H4, but my left fender somehow got dented pretty hard, though the deer came from the right side of the road.

I drove another 150 miles after that and the car feels fine.

Another testament to the aerodynamics of a 911.... There aren't many things faster than a 911, and I guess you just added Deer to that list...

I now dub thee "Bambi Killer " Just kidding!

Regarding the oil level: was there oil in the cooler that you removed? I'm guessing that the one you replaced it with was empty. Also, keep in mind that differences in engine temp when you check can produce dramatically different readings on the dipstick.

Regarding the deer: wow!

I got my Carrera cooler from Steve Timmins, who said it had been pressure cleaned 2k miles ago. Pretty sure it was totally empty when I got it and the fittings were capped. I checked the level at about 195 deg. on level ground with engine running after about 35 min. of driving.

I just did an upgrade from the trombone to the Carrera cooler, the engine was drained, the tank was drained and a couple of the lines changed, I ended up putting in 15 quarts.

I hope it was deer season.....
