Window Regulator Help

So this weekend my drivers side window fell down into the door of my '85 Carerra Cabriolet. After taking apart the door I retrieved the window and it appears that it simply pulled out of the channel it sits in. However when I removed the plastic seal on the door this part fell out:



Can anyone help me identify it? From looking at the pictures in Wayne's book it could be the retaining pin for the tensioner spring on the window regulator, but I'm not sure.

Also, it looks like the PO had the door worked on in the past from this bit of hackery:


Anyway, the window regulator seems to work fine, but there is that part that was floating around in the door. Any advise as to what I need to do to get things working again?
