Same old blue car with new shoes?

Now it is finally beginning to look like a Porsche again

I wasnt sure how that car could be made to look any better. I guess the right set of Fuchs can make any car look better. Those are the Al Reed wheels, right?

Beautiful.

But now the dilemma: no center caps for the low-weight-race-car look? Or install the center caps to stay consistent with the car's razor-blade-through-the-slipstream, no-turbulence aero package?

Thanks guys! I wasn't fond of the "hot wheels" look either. But had to have something to drive on. Shuie, good eye, Al Reed's work. Can't afford the weight of the caps, Jack

Half tank of gas and I pulled the roll bar to finish the interior. (full tank is 27 gallons)

I know you're gonna think I am nuts. First pics were from 10am this morning under a heavy overcast and in a slight drizzle. (check the moisture on the pavement) This one is still under a heavy overcast and at 7PM. Taken just a few minutes ago.

I'll take a few with a lighter background so it isn't washing out the car with the glare.

The shop gave the car a final buff and wax job yesterday. It is pretty flashy today even in bad lighting.

Thanks Dave

Interior? Not yet. I pulled it out of the shop today so I could take it to the local weekend of historic racing.

New carpet goes in Tuesday. Seat backs and fire bottle got painted along with a bunch of smaller details attended to. But going to be another couple of weeks before it is really finished...if I actually give it back to them on Tuesday.

Gotta give credit for this change to Eric Mc and Alex. I was set on staying with the black and cork. But Eric thought the seat backs needed to be color coded and Alex thought I needed to lighten up the interior. Both great ideas once I was able to get my head around redoing the interior. Not going to be much black inside when I am done.

Some the black carpet was damaged over the winter so it was the time to do it.

These should give you the idea of where I am going with it.

Are you mad man?

The PNW brethren must maintain some sense of dignity and we draw the line at manually actuating our car windows....sheesh.

Never mind the lack of rain gutters in an area that is notable for it's high frequency of rain. We have standards to maintain damnit.

(Actually, we really just couldn't live without replacing crappy window switches every couple of years.)

Ryan, I could loose some weight by going to manuals. (but then I'd have to have new door panelsl) Couple of other things I could do. Car weighed in at 2134 with one gallon of gas. Not sure I want to loose any creature comforts at this point. Car still has a great CD/stereo and some sound proofing. Goal was to come in under 2100# but the roll bar killed that without doing some major surgery and adding more fiber or plexi-glass.

But good idea and thanks.

Jorian, the seats are Ricaro Pole Positions in leather.

When finished it will be a dramatic change from what you are seeing here. Suspense is killling me.

not much more you can do re wt. -- soembody was going to weigh & post the window motor wts.

possibilites:
- fab Al bumper brackets to replace the steel ones
- remove any sound deadening and replace with a modern type (lighter)
- looks like your rear seats are already gone
- drill many many holes in the engine support carrier
- kill the CD player and get a Zen Micro mp3/FM player, plumbed directly into a light wt. amp.
