Ignitor part number for Bosch distributor 0231 159 001

Hi there:

I ordered a Pertronix ignitor module with Pertronix part number 2862, which was supposed to fit a 911 (911T in my case) model year 1971 with a Bosch distributor.

Unfortunately, there is no way the bracket will fit :-/

My Bosch distributor is model 0231 159 001. Has anyone ever installed an ignitor module and remembers the Pertronix part number?

Thanks & cheerio, Harry.

I ordered one from Performance for my 1971 911s and got a #2862.
I haven't tried to put it on yet.

Where did you find the part number on the distributor ?

Hi there:

the part number is on the side of the distributor - but you can usually only see it with the distributor out.

I know that Pertronix part #2862 will fit a Bosch distributor 0231 159 008, which came stock on a 911T in 1971. The pelican parts catalog lists 0231 159 007 as the stock distributor of the 911S.

If you want to be proactive and assuming you still have the stock distributor you should verify that the Pertronix part fits that distributor.

Cheerio, Harry.

The 0231 159 001 is from a 67 T/S.
From the Pertronix Catalog, it looks like you need the #1866.
I think I am going to go for one as well...
