Another RSR Clone Project Update - 11
I've been making slow but steady progress since my last update and figured it was time to post another one. Since my last post, I've installed all the windows, seats, oil cooling system and have completed most of the engine rebuild. Here's some photos.
Oil Cooling The photos show the RSR panel indent before the cooler installation and then the Setrab 150 cooler purchased from Elephant Racing. I routed the Aeroquip hoses through the front fender panel as was done on the original RSR. The hard lines were purchased from GAD in Atlanta used as was the thermostat. Elephant supplied the thermo to tank and thermo to engine lines. The tank was lenghtened and baffled by Fabcar, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121128880.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121128933.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121128960.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121128994.jpg The car itself is mostly complete. Only the fuel pump and rear deck grill need to be installed. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121129090.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121129123.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121129156.jpg The engine long block is complete. Recall it's a twin plug, 3.0 SC with RSR P&C's from Andial, DC-60 cam from Camgrinder, RSR headers that will use a ralley style muffler and PMO carbs. The assembly measurements gave 10.5:1 CR just where I had targeted the engine. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121129503.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121129545.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121129578.jpg I'm hoping to have the car running sometime during August. |

Are those lines and T'stat new? If not, how did you get them so clean?
|

That color is awesome.
|
it's nice and all, but...how much ya bench (Dyno that is) ?
|
That is magnificent...

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!
How tight is the fit between your oil cooler and the front bumper? Is that the reason it is tipped on an angle? Your front bumper is small, I believe, as is my early RSR style bumper. I believe I have the same cooler, but mounted it vertically. I had space issues and ended up changing the mounts, cutting some of the FG inside the bumper, etc. Your install looks very clean!! I like it better than mine. Do you have any shots of the AN lines inside of the trunk? Thanks for sharing, awesome car!! Doug |
I just love that car! Fantastic stuff! I could look at those pics all day :)

Thanks for all the compliments. As I've said before, this car is a dream coming true for me.
As for some of the questions: 1. The hard oil lines and T-Stat were purchased used from GAD in Atlanta. They were shipped as one unit that included all the lines and the loop cooler from an SC. I used only the hard lines from the rear to the front fender wells. I bead blasted the T-stat to clean it up (made sure that inlet and exit were covered with the plastic covers that I bought from Eastwood). I cleaned up the hard lines using the same Wurth rotary tool that I used to clean the undercoating off the car. Then I painted the lines with satin black catalyzed urethane. The lines from the T=stat to engine and T-stat to tank were purchased new from Elephant. 2. The fan and shroud were painted by Auto Associates to match the OEM finish, Special process...call them for details. 3. We are expecting about 275 HP at the wheels when we chassis dyno the car. Scott at Auto Associates (as well as Chris Bennet and others on this site) have been guiding me through the rebuild. Wayne's book has been incredible. 4. The front cooler is a very tight fit. I spent almost 8 hours getting the fit right. The trick was to position the cooler so that air will flow through it yet have it not interfere with the bumper. As you can see from the photo taken from below the car, I had to cut some of the bottom of the bumper away to get the fit right. I probably could still use a baffle to provide even better airflow. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121160985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1121161021.jpg |
This is the kind of car I dream about......fantastic :D

nice work, I can't recall seeing that color before on an RSR. love the attention to detail.

Great looking car and great attention to detail. It looks like the rear brake disks are backwards or the holes are drilled opposite from the cooling vanes.
|
That is outstanding !!!!
