another whats it worth 72S
Im thinking of selling my 72S targa. Somethings got to go and the 73 is not in any shape to sell. Anyway here is what I know. Its a 72S but it does not have the original motor. It does have a real73S motor in its place. It currently has carb's but I do have a 73S MFI pump and most all of the parts to put it back in. It run's great now so I just left the carbs in place. It also has the electromotive setup but I do have a distributor that I assume is original. This is a very nice driver. I painted it myself and everything that could be removed was. And all rubber was replaced. The interior is very nice. I replaced the carpet and had the sport seats redone. There is one very small crack in the dash from the speaker to the defroster.
Any idea's of a range that I should expect. This car is very solid also. No rust that I know of. I have many pics with the car apart. Thanks ![]() One other thing. The car was originally gold from the paint code. The trunk and engine compartment was all resprayed black before I got it. I could not find any gold when I repainted and I had the windows and interior completely removed.

Here is a couple of more pics. I have replaced the passenger side door pocket since this pic was taken.
![]() ![]() The targa top is in OK shape but I removed the headliner because it was sagging and to look new the top should be redone. I don't drive much with the top on so I never got around to getting it taken care of.

The engine runs great but the trans has a high pitched whine in 5th. It also leaves a few spots on the garage floor but nothing to bad. No smoke.

One more. Any ideas on what a fair asking price would be?

I'd be happy to call that one my own, I would think there should be some takers at 20K I don't think gold is as desirable an early color as the greens, tangerines, and the like that your color change would hurt the price that much.
Sweet car D You could always do a Cal Classics type add and put it on ebay and see what happens!

With the way early cars are going I'd say it is worth every penny of $20K.
You really need to figure out what you are going to buy before you sell though. You'll never be able to replace this with another 72S for this kind if money. Good Luck, Don

I love the car but the big drawback is no AC and no room for the golf clubs. Maybe I'll check into getting a working AC in the 73T coupe and a luggage rack of some sort. Or pull a trailer.
I'm in no hurry but I was kind of thinking about gettin rid of the wife's jeep and this car, and getting the wife either a boxer or vette. That would leave me the 73 coupe to fix up and a jeep for running around in. Probably in the next year I'll end up giving the other jeep to one of my kids. That would leave the wife with hopefully a fairly new and reliabe sports car and I would still have the 73 coupe.

Damn Paul, you would have to go and dig up a pic, I suppose it is a cool color too. Well, maybe not as cool as Irish Green

I'm thinking mid to upper 20s for the car, seems like a very nice car. With the original motor I'd think 10K higher.

I'm thinking I would be better off putting the MFI back on and the original distributor. Besides I'd like to put the electromotive on my 73. This would also give me a chance to clean up the engine bay a bit and address the minor oil leaks. I'm thinking this would help the value or at least make the car more desirable to more people. I probably should also get rid of the after market rear shelf with the speakers. I got this with the car and it just doesn't look right to me.
I'm just worried that I'll screw something up by going back to the MFI. The car runs good now. I'm also worried that there may be more people interested in a nice driver with the ability to replace the MFI and distributer later and just drive it as is. I would expect more money if I go to the trouble of putting it all back on.
